- Thor is, in the Marvel Universe, the Norse God of thunder. Although he is actually just from another realm of reality called Asgard
- Some of Thor’s abilities, such as flight and weather manipulation, come from wielding his mythical hammer, Mjolnir
- Thor first appeared in Journey Into Mystery #83, August 1962, and was created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Larry Leiber
- Sometimes in the Thor story arc if he is not holding Mjolnir he is simply a “human” with super strength and goes by the name Donald Blake
- Thor, while wearing glasses as Donald Blake, runs into a very muscular reporter wearing glasses named Clark in The Mighty Thor #341
- When simply flying with Mjolnir just won’t do he calls upon a huge chariot driven by mythical flying goats named Toothnasher and Toothgrinder.
- Others have occasionally wielded Mjolnir besides Thor. Most notably in Thor #1, released in 2015, by Jane Foster who had been found worthy and was considered Thor, even by Odinson.
- Thor is often considered the protector of Earth, or Midgard as it is called in Asgard, and is under his protection from cosmic threats
- Thor is a founding member of the Avengers. Is considered 1st by IGN in a list of Top 50 Avengers as well as 14th of the Top 100 Comic Book Heros of All Time
- Cinematically Thor has been played by Chris Hemsworth
