- Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27, under the name “the Bat-Man”, in May 1939, created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane
- Batman goes by the alter ego Bruce Wayne, who lives in Gotham City
- When Bruce was a boy he watched his parents die from a mugging gone wrong in which Joe Chill shot them
- Batman has went under other code names: The Caped Crusader, The Dark Knight, and The World’s Greatest Detective
- Batman’s greatest enemy is The Joker; other notable villains include: Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Penguin, Bane, Catwoman, Riddler, Two-Face, Ra’s Al Ghul and etc
- Some of Batman’s abilities include: Genius-level intellect, peak human physical and mental condition, martial arts master, expert in hand-to-hand combat, utilizes/invents high-tech equipment
- Dicky Grayson took up the mantle of Batman twice; when Bruce had a broke back and when everyone believed he was dead
- Bruce Wayne believes that criminals are superstitious and easily frightened and so he wanted something that would scare them and since he was terrified of bats as a child he used that for his persona.
- Batman teams up with the local police department. Mainly cooperating with Commissioner Jim Gordon whenever they use the batsignal on top of the precinct.
- Batman has been played on screen by many actors. Some of which include: Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck will do so in the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Kevin Conroy is popularly known for voicing the character in Batman: The Animated Series
